Happy 1st Birthday, Teddy!

Our snuggly, adventurous, observant and mischevious little man is 1! This year has flown by, and it feels like just yesterday that I found out I was pregnant with baby #2. Teddy has added so much to our family, and he fills our world with so much joy. He astounds us with all he can do and say! His words include: ball, uh-oh, mama, buh-bye, woof and a monkey noise. He's working on book as we speak. The doctor was impressed with his motor skills, and is convinced that he will be walking unassisted soon. Teddy also impressed her with his ability to point at objects and ask them to be named (or attempt to name them), as that is a 15 month skill. At his appointment today, he continues to grow well, and weighed in at 25 lbs. 11 oz (96%) and measured 31.5 inches (96%)!

We celebrated his birthday yesterday with a lovely family breakfast and presents. Pierce opened all of Teddy's gifts as a "helper" and would say "ooooh, Teddy, a book", then proceed to read it himself--so it was like 2 birthday celebrations in 1! After our delicious blueberry waffles (thanks, Dad), watermelon and milk, we headed out to the Discovery Museum for a morning of fun! Not wanting to miss a minute of his big day, Teddy did not nap on the way to the museum like I was convinced he would. He was in great spirits visiting all of the rooms, and could have spent the entire day in the balls and ramps room.

After an afternoon playdate for the boys, Halsey came home for an early birthday dinner and Teddy's first cake! He was melting down a little bit from his lack of naps, but that didn't slow down his ability to devour his cupcake. A little sugar solves everything!

We love you Teddy! Happy 1st Birthday.

Escape From the June Gloom

June started off cool and rainy in Massachusetts, so what better way to deal with the gloom than to fly to California? Pierce, Teddy and I flew out to San Francisco to spend a week with Nana and Pops. I was super nervous to fly out there by myself, but the boys were champs, and Pierce was a huge helper. It's amazing that we got the three of us, 2 suitcases, a stroller and a carseat, plus carry-ons out there! Halsey joined in the fun later in the week, and was thankfully with us for the flight home.

Nana and Pops had fun plans for us everyday. We arrived to gorgeous weather, and took full advantage of the beautiful scenery and adventures in store. We made a trip to the Discovery Center on day one--an old favorite! Teddy and Pierce both loved the "pond room" with waterbed ponds, bubbles, and a ceiling with fish on it. Then we moved outside to the water table, where Teddy drenched himself (a trend with water tables), and explored the World of Clifford before heading home, exhausted, for naps!
Are those fish on the ceiling?
What a good looking boy!
The next day was picture perfect and Nana, the boys, and I headed to the local Farmer's Market. The produce and food was amazing, and the boys loved wandering the aisles, looking at everything and tasting freely. They were also treated to a trip in a bounce house, and a puppet show with Sesame Street favorite characters.

Elmo's got them under his spell
Up next was Halsey's arrival and a trip to the San Francisco Zoo. Teddy and Pierce loved the children's portion of the zoo, where they spent nearly an hour watching the groundhogs and meerkats, feeding and sunning themselves. Pierce found a kid-size gopher hole to explore, and had fun popping up and down!

We made a final outing to Angel Island, and the boys got a kick out of the ferry ride, and the tram ride around the island. We had a gorgeous day for the adventure, and saw some beautiful sights along the way.

Every afternoon and morning we made a trek to the local playground and made time for backyard play and swimming. It was relaxing and refreshing, and the boys got a kick out of all of the fresh air!

We had a lovely Father's Day brunch with Halsey and Pops, followed by a concert in the park, where Pierce and Teddy danced up a storm to some classic Opera music! We are looking forward to our next trip back in December for Christmas with the Littles.
